:id doesn't match identifiers with ?

The pattern $foo:id doesn't match empty? I tried changing the regexp but gave up.

It works for me. It depends on sexp-forward, though, which depends on
the major mode, so it probably won't work in, say, text mode. Could that
be it?

This was in the generic scheme mode.
