Description

Use Case 579

3D model to store volumetric survey plans

As a user of GeoSPARQL data, I need a 3D model to accurately store information from volumetric survey plans and to conduct analyses for structures like buildings. Currently we only have capabilities with 2.5D structures and representations which have significant gaps compared to true 3D modelling. The 2.5D extrusions do not accurately reflect the detailed volumetric information or capture the complex spatial relationships between structures.

Actor: GeoSPARQL data user

Preconditions

• The 3D Geometry is in a format that the actor can read
• 3D Geometries are modelled and stored in a dataset to be queried

Postconditions

• The 3D model stores all relevant volumetric information from the survey plans, reflecting detailed geometrical and spatial relationships between structures.
• The dataset allows the user to perform analyses on the 3D geometries.

Steps

  1. Actor: Ensure that the 3D geometry data is in a compatible format that can be read. Convert volumetric survey plans into this format if necessary.
  2. Actor: Design a dataset to accurately represent the 3D geometries, ensuring that all relevant volumetric information and spatial relationships are captured.
