I agree that the current accordion visualization could be improved. I personally lack the understanding of how many windows are in the accordion. Currently, I like the stackline approach #24 (comment) Though I didn't plan to add text ( |

At the moment, accordioned windows can be … very difficult to differentiate:
What is hiding back there? With a poor working memory, I have no idea what will happen if I run my
focus up
command. I just kinda have to cycle it until I get what I want (unless I actually forgot where it is, and it's in the other accordion to the left. 😅)That is, of course, the downside of accordions - but I think it could be mitigated by rendering a little label on all "mostly obscured" accordion folds, containing whatever the accessibility
AXTitle
provided by that app contains.Stretch goals:
Alt+
, so having the titles hidden until I start holdingAlt
would make a lot of sense.)Note: I understand that this is a stretch, as for pretty much any other 'visual rendering' stuff, Aerospace has said nope and left it to be implemented externally (i.e. active borders); but in this case, I really do think Aerospace itself is the correct location - it controls the accordion'ing, it knows which windows are mostly shadowed, and most importantly, it knows the direction of the accordion (i.e. whether to render horizontal text or vertical text.) Any external 'draw little accessibility titles on windows' tool would need some pretty deep integration w/ Aerospace to avoid rendering titles that aren't necessary, to decide where to draw them, and to decide whether to draw them vertically or horizontally.
