Description
First: apologies if this isn't the right place or right format for this request.
What I've tried:
MacIntosh Garden
There's a zip, containing bin and cue files.
It looks like StuffIt doesn't like the zip file - Unknown zip header format encountered
.
I downloaded and unpacked it outside the browser. Dragging those bin files over to various VMs, I got:
This disk is unreadable by this Computer.
Do you want to initialize the disk?
I confirmed that behavior on VMs for 7.6, 8.5, and 9.0.
iso from Internet Archive
OS:
Trying on various VMs, my first guess is that, on the title screen, it attempts to play CD audio, and hangs. On second thought: I don't think iso files support CD audio tracks, and if it was this broken, it should have been noticed earlier.
The manual's minimum OS version was 7.6.1, which wasn't available.
- 7.6 - error -192
- 8.5 - hang on title screen
- 9.0 - hang on title screen
Abandonware
The page links:
- an English ISO
- a French disk image
- a couple of other versions in other languages, which I skipped
The English ISO matches the above Internet Archive image.
The French disk image is a bin/cue which, when dragged over, can open and launch; it hangs on the title screen.
original question
Adam Conover asked about this on Mastodon; I puttered around on this when I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. I'm happy to act as a go-between, but feel free to work around me. On Mastodon, I'm @[email protected].
