Eligibility
- I confirm that I am a genuine user and have purchased the software.
- Alternatively, I have paid for this feature request on Issue Hunt.
Feature Description
Describe the feature you'd like to request:
- Add a toggle to turn off the app still running in the background when it is closed. When this toggle is activated, the app would close all of it's processes when closing the main window.
Use Case
Explain the use case for this feature:
- Many people are used to apps completely closing when the main window is closed. This is the expected default behavior on multiple operating systems Rune is available on, including Windows and most Linux distributions.
- This would allow those people who do not want to have Rune in the background while not using it to not have to close it from system tray all the time.
- The toggle would allow users to choose what works best for them. The current behavior can remain the default, but there should be a toggle.
Expected Benefits
- The toggle would make it less tedious to completely close Rune for those who do not want it running.
- The toggle would benefit those who do not have an operating system with a system tray to notice Rune is still running. For example, a Linux distribution using a vanilla, modern GNOME desktop environment.
- The toggle would not go against Rune's ethical goals, nor would it negatively impact system performance. In fact, it would arguably improve it, since users would be less likely to have Rune run accidentally in the background wasting resources.
